“I can’t believe you got us tickets to opening night!”

I smiled at an excited Londyn before taking a sip of my martini. “Just doin’ my job as your maid of honor,” I said with a wink.

We were at Elevated, another Ian Noble restaurant. Tonight was the grand opening and what made this restaurant so different was the fact that while we enjoyed our dinner we’d also get to enjoy an aerial arts show. Elevated was a collaborative effort of both Ian and his wife, Giselle, an amazing aerial artist who also taught aerial classes at Paxton’s yoga studio. She was also the Head of Production over at Noble Naturals, a hair care/cosmetics line owned by Ian and his siblings, Isaiah, Isabella, whom everyone called Izzy, and Ivy.

Along with me and Londyn, we were also with Ramsey’s sisters-in-law, Cynthia and Paige, his cousins Izzy and Ivy, and rounding out our bachelorette group were Dana Everett and her sister Tessa, who was married to Isaiah.

Dana and Tessa owned Everett’s Bakery – which was next door to my ice cream shop – and they were making the cake for Londyn and Ramsey’s wedding.

This was the first night of events I had planned for our bachelorette week. Londyn had been excited and talking about how much she couldn’t wait to check out Elevated, so I’d made it happen.

Ian was more than happy to hook me up with tickets for his soon-to-be cousin-in-law.

And he hooked us up with the best table in the house, front and center facing the stage.

“And you’ve done a great job as my maid of honor,” Londyn said, causing me to turn to face her when I caught a bit of nervousness in her voice.

“But…?” I asked, wondering if and how I could have possibly dropped the ball on something.

“But…nothing,” Londyn said, pulling her drink to her lips.

“Uh uh,” I said, shaking my head. “Londyn–”

“Promise you won’t get mad.”

“Honey,” I assured her, putting a hand on her shoulder. “It’s your wedding. What could I possibly get mad about?”

“I…invited her.”

I could see the stress in her eyes as she continued. “She’s…my mom, Rae. I was at Sunday dinner with Ram’s family, and his mom was talking about being excited about the wedding this weekend and she was just goin’ on and on about how happy she was to be able to see all of her sons get married and I…I caved and called her.”

“It’s okay,” I said, rubbing her back.

“No,” Londyn said, a slight quiver in her voice. “You know how my mother is, Rae. You know how she’s going to be.”

“Hey,” I said firmly. “As your maid of honor, it’s my job to make sure nothing fazes you from now until you’re in that limo off to your honeymoon. Don’t worry about Meredith.”

“But–”

“Aht aht,” I said, shaking my head. “Listen, you know how…similar our mothers are. If and when the time comes to handle Meredith, I can and will handle it. Your only focus is marrying the love of your life.”

I watched as Londyn blew out a long, calming breath before nodding her head.
